Goodbye 2011, Hello 2012 from the Tex[t]-Mex Galleryblog!

A big tip of the sombrero to all our regular visitors! To celebrate, the lauded opening minutes from Orson Welles's remarkable TOUCH OF EVIL:

A select Walmart demographic, true to form, bringin' some good ol' holiday cheer and bigotry against Mexicans...

A story on a few 12th-hour Walmart Christmas Eve shoppers venting their frustrations and anger at an impatient store management...and then going on to blame (surprise, surprise) Mexicans for their last-minute lot in life. I suppose the year 2011 will close as it began, with more zany and sad racial bigotry, antipathy, misunderstanding, frustration, and blame, etc., in store for 2012! Check it out with this link below:

Arizona Hates Mexicans (and Black Bears!)....

The Bluest Eye, Mexico-style... | Racism in the Americas

FROM THE ORIGINAL YOUTUBE POSTING:

CRUZANDO FRONTERAS/Crossing the Border: Films and Videos by Women

Over 21 years ago the border arts renaissance was alive and well in San Diego, California, and Tijuana, Baja California; here's a poster from my personal collection from the CRUZANDO FRONTERAS film festival...  As with most images on the galleryblog, click to enlarge...

Pedro Infante is in the [white] House! (...sort of): A quick post on Aural-Sonic Miscegenations!

Came upon this LP record quite by accident on Google images. You'll appreciate it for its decidedly odd Leave it to Beaver meets La Bamba undertones. Needless to say, there must be a copy still out there...I'll check Amoeba Music in San Francisco and get back to you. Until then, soak in all the cross-cultural, racial harmony, and curiously caucasoidal vibes this anomalous little artifact seems to emit!

More Artifacts from the Caucasian Bestiary: San Diego Lawn Jockey Edition

They are infamous and documented--common throughout the United States, especially the South: the Lawn Jockey.

However, there is one in San Diego--in Kensington to be exact--that catches the eye and, as such, merits entry into the Tex[t]-Mex Galleryblog Caucasian Bestiary.  I had my camera with me the other day and snagged some suggestive shots!

John McCain Laughs at the Tex[t]-Mex Galleryblog! Undocumented Immigrants are, apparently, PYROMANIACS...

We have had a good time skewering John "Mexicans Love Fires" McCain for his outrageous speech acts--when it comes to "Mexicans," McCain, while not in the Lou Dobbs Hall of Fame category, has, at the very least, been curious when it comes to the folks just south of his home state.  But now the LA Times chimes with the story below!  NewsTaco, what do we do!?
